The North Country received a special "present" at Christmas this year -- a foot or more of snow in one day and bitterly cold weather until the second week of January. Plenty of snow is protecting the ground, which is fortunate since nightly lows have ranged from -2 to -25 and highs haven't been much warmer. The lake froze over in December and ice fishing activity is beginning to pick up since the end of the extreme cold. We do see lots of birds and squirrels at the feeders and often a deer appears to lick sunflower seeds out of the lip of the feeder, too.
